Garnet mining for Tanya!

These pictures were taken from the ATV on the way to the gold camp. I was happy to find out that the patient I discharged from the hospital that morning AMA for Afib c RVR was there and continued to insist that he had no issues (sure, everyones HR tachs along at 147!!) He helped me comb through the beach sand for pieces of garnet. I unfortunately didn't find any gold.
The camp itself was interesting. Some people were very into the idea of being a gold miner and were dressed to the nines! They picked numbers to lottery off the gold found that day. There was actually a 5oz nugget of gold found. The pictures above show the contraptions they use for gold panning. I would like to do it before I leave. We had a good (FREE) spaghetti dinner and then in the "Saloon" there was a talent show. There were people singing, telling jokes, etc, what an odd land.
